Fantastic Arcade 2014 :: Day 1

Hey! It's the greatest time of the year: Fantastic Fest!

Hey! It's the greatest time of the year: Fantastic Fest! And quite possibly my favorite part of Fantastic Fest is the Fantastic Arcade, where game devs from all over and all walks of life show off their weird and wonderful gaming experiences. Fantastic Arcade features a bank of gaming cabinets, laptops loaded with lots of games to try out, a bunch of shiny PS4 kiosks loaded up with previews, demos, and polished arcade games, and Q&As with game devs.

The art on the cabinets this year is just incredible.
I particularly love Banana Chalice. Speaking of which:

The creator of Banana Chalice swung by and played his game on an arcade cabinet a few times.

The laptop setup is pretty sweet. You can came and listen to a game dev talk about how they created their game.

The PS4 kiosks set up in the main corridor are really cool. And the games have a great 16-bit vibe that I love.

The selection this year is just mind-blowing. The games are all super fun. My picks so far? Banana Chalice and Loves in a Dangerous Spacetime. Gang Beasts also looks pretty fun if you play with 2+ people. I definitely recommend coming by; the Fantastic Arcade is free and open to the public the entire weekend.
