A peak at the office

We've been in our new home for a few months now, but it hasn't been until recently that we're made those final tweaks to really make it feel like our home. I'm really happy with how my office is turning out, which is what I want to share with you today.

We've been in our new home for a few months now, but it hasn't been until recently that we're made those final tweaks to really make it feel like our home. I'm really happy with how my office is turning out, which is what I want to share with you today.

I've had this 16 cube Expedit shelf for quite some time now, and it's been a bit of a struggle to find the right way to fill it up. I ended up going with 8 cube containers in the middle and putting the books on the sides to make it feel like two bookcases with storage in the middle. I love the plastic containers because you can write on them with a dry erase marker. The books on the left are (most) of my knitting/crochet/craft books. Books on the right are school and language books, and the top shelf is origami and cross stitch. I tried to mix up angles and heights of books to make it more interesting. Also, toys, because I'm me.

Featured from left to right across the top:
- Futurama DVD collection in a Bender head
- Big Barda, Mister Miracle, and Orion figures
- Futurama Monopoly
- Geisha Spock (don't question, just enjoy)
- Marquee arrow light from Target

Hung off to the left is a signed Futurama script-cover. Who signed it? Some guy named Craig Ferguson, maybe you've heard of him.

The posters above the shelf are three different Ript designs, all Adventure Time riffs. Just wait until you see the whole office; there is Adventure Time stuff pretty much everywhere.

My desk area makes me really happy too.

A mix of band posters and nerdy stuff (the picture to the right under The Bravery is Aquaman flying the Invisible Jet and looking pouty while Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman dance in the main cabin). The screensaver is the fliqlo clock, which is my favorite screensaver ever. And yes, that is a MacBook Air sitting on a MacBook pro next to an iMac. Have I not established that I'm a Mac person yet? The E mug is from Anthropologie, Buddha head from Target, and other things from other places. The Chicago screen print art is by my friend Q of Screamin Monkey Circus on Etsy. The frog print is from SXSW Comedy 2013. I'm a lady of many interests.

I am very much loving my office, including my Doctor Who shelf, Futurama toy collection, coffee cart, Adventure Time shelf… a fold-up bed is coming soon for seating/guests, and once that happens the office will be complete! And maybe by then I can afford a nicer camera to take better pictures.
